Congregants from the five churches on the island were encouraged to bring someone in need of love, compassion, company, a meal or an ear to listen. The gathering opened with the singing of hymns and a blessing by Fr. Gregory Gibson of St. John’s, followed by a Scripture reading and a moving message by Ms. Sherene Gumbs on the importance of accepting people where they are and not being judgmental. The closing prayer and blessing were pronounced by Fr. Alric Francis, Sr., of St. Peter’s Church.
The delicious breakfast was the third centennial event on St. Croix and was followed by a tea party on June 3, 2019 at the D.C. Canegata Recreation Center. The first of a series of church tours took place St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Frederiksted, St. Croix, on June 9th.
