St. Paul’s, Sea Cow’s Bay, donates to FSN as part of its patronal festival celebrations
As one of the activities to celebrate its patronal festival, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on the island of Tortola recently donated money, foodstuff, and toiletries to the Family Support Network. Although the mission makes an annual monetary donation to FSN, this year it was augmented by contributions from the ECW and the Junior Club, and included items donated by the congregation during the month of January. The collection was sparked by the Boys’ Club, which had announced that it would donate the supplies left over from its camp in October to the agency. The Family Support Network (FSN) is a non-governmental organisation which provides services to persons affected by domestic violence. Although it receives a yearly subvention from government, it is constantly in need of assistance as it is overwhelmed with requests. Senior Warden, Mrs. Beverly Hodge Smith, made the presentation to the Chair of FSN, Ms. Judith Charles, who reported that more than thirteen hundred people were counseled during 2016, fifty nine protection orders were processed, and more than two thousand, six hundred people were fed.
